Issue 16: You have a choice
So it’s been two weeks. There’s a reason for that. Let’s dive in.
The Coffee
On February 10, 2023 I sent my first query for The Finley Case.
And so far, it has been crickets. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There just hasn’t been anything for me to report with my writing. I am in that strange little limbo between querying and starting my next project(s). I wrote the outline summary of Book 2 in my planned trilogy and it was very, very long. It also went in a direction I was not expecting. I don’t plan on starting to write that book until April for Camp NaNoWriMo. My goal: get Act One drafted.
Last week, I rediscovered the book I wrote in 2012 for NaNo. It is the first book I have ever finished writing, which is surprising because I wrote a lot from age 8-18. But this book was written during my time in London. It was a mess when I wrote it for a few reasons (one of them being that my laptop charger DIED and I had to wait for a new one to arrive) and was heavily inspired my Little Women, but in the modern day. As I re-read it over the weekend, I realized that I could actually revise and rewrite a few storylines so that they are better. My plan is to sit down on Monday to look at what I need to change and then work through it.
I also plan on writing a short outline for Demon Magic WIP. The story still hasn’t fully formed in my head which is why I have to keep putting it off even though I really want to get into the world of F and T.
Finally, I plan on writing just short Ginny related scenes that happen after the first book and before the second book. That way I am aware of the time jump between the two books and know what my characters did.
And as for querying? I’ll send more out sometime next week. I just want to hear back from a few more agents before I see if I need to work on my package and pages again.
The Tea
Last month was not the best month for me reading wise. I was unfortunately in a slump. However, I have a lot to read over the next three months, most of them being eARCs. I am also slowly reading through The Inheritance Games Trilogy. I should hopefully have them finished by next week and also have maybe two of my eARCs finished?

With TV this month, it is a GOOD MONTH for annoying people. Daisy Jones & The Six will be finished airing by the end of the month and in 13 days we have Shadow and Bone Season 2. Plus, in the world of music we have the new Hozier album coming out. Basically, a win.
And Things
We’re doing a mini social media posting round up over the past two-ish weeks.
First up, my pride and joy.
And yes, I even posted on Insta.
I got some exciting book mail too this last month.
Yesterday was also Read Across America Day and I shared a few books that have stayed with me over the years.
And finally, I continued spreading my Shades of London Agenda.
Final Thoughts
I should be back to posting newsletters weekly again this month. However, I plan on doing a special newsletter out next weekend just in time for the Academy Awards.
I’ll see you next week.
Briana
